I. Self-adhesive Bitumen Waterproof Membrane (with fiberglass mat)
- Introduction
This self-adhesive bitumen waterproof membrane is manufactured using SBS elastomer modified bitumen as the base material, reinforced with a fiberglass mat. The upper surface can be covered with polyethylene (PE) film, aluminum foil or other protective films, while the underside is coated with a self-adhesive layer and release film. It is a modern cold-applied waterproofing material with strong self-adhesion, excellent waterproof performance and good low-temperature flexibility, making it especially suitable for safe and convenient construction without open flame.
II. Types of Self-adhesive Bitumen Waterproof Membrane
Huiwang provides different self-adhesive membrane types to meet various project needs, such as wet-applied self-adhesive membranes and sloped roof membranes, with optional surface finishes and thicknesses.
III. Characteristics
- Cold-applied self-adhesion: No primer, bonding agent or torching required, reducing fire risk and making construction safer and easier.
- Good elasticity and elongation: SBS-modified bitumen provides rubber-like flexibility and high elongation to accommodate structural movements and minor cracks.
- Excellent adhesive bond: Strong bonding to concrete, screed and other substrates, forming a continuous, reliable waterproof layer.
- Self-healing / self-coalescence: Small punctures and overlaps can partially self-seal under pressure and temperature, improving overall waterproof performance.
- Safe and environmentally friendlier application: Cold construction without open flame, reduced smoke and odour, and lower impact on surrounding environments.
- High waterproofing performance and strength: Reinforced with fiberglass mat, the membrane has good tensile strength, tear resistance and long-term waterproof reliability.
- Corrosion and ageing resistance: Good resistance to chemicals, weathering and ageing, suitable for long-term use in different climates.
- Applicable to slightly damp substrates: Can be applied on properly prepared, slightly wet surfaces, improving site flexibility where complete drying is difficult.
IV. Usage
Self-adhesive bitumen waterproof membranes are widely used for waterproofing and damp-proofing of roofs, basements, swimming pools, tunnels and other parts of industrial and civil buildings. They are also suitable for wooden and metal roofs where torch-applied membranes are not allowed. Due to the cold-applied, flame-free installation method, they are especially recommended for projects with strict fire-safety requirements.
